Graduating Student Members - Next Steps
Graduating Student Member Benefit:
If you are an ATRA Student Member in good standing within the membership year you apply for Professional or Supporting Membership, the Member fee is waived for the remainder of the same membership year.
Applicants for Professional Membership:
Apply for this membership category if you are a new graduate from a degree program that meets academic and clinical placement requirements.
To have the fee waived, you must email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line "Request for Student Member to Professional Member Discount Code." Please note if you are not an ATRA Student Member, this benefit will not apply to you.
Get your paperwork in order if you are applying to ATRA through the Academic Pathway:
- Ensure you have a signed copy of your Practicum Placement Form
- Request your transcripts from the following institutions by click or tap on the following convenient links:
- If the educational institution from which you have graduated is not listed here, request your transcripts from that institution.
- If your current legal name does not match the legal name on your transcripts, please send a copy of your government issued change of name certificate along with your transcripts.
Please proceed to the Applications page in the Application & Renewals Section of this website and follow the instructions there. You must meet all the professional membership criteria before your application is approved.
Retention of Student Membership
Student members will remain in the Student Member category until they complete their degree and meet Professional Member category criteria.
Students who take a few months, up to one membership year (April 1 - March 31) between completing their therapeutic recreation diploma and commencing a post TR Degree will remain Student members
Applicants for Supporting Membership:
Apply for this membership category if you have completed a therapeutic recreation diploma any time after April 1, 2021, will not be pursuing a degree to meet Professional Membership, no longer meet student membership criteria and want to maintain support for the objectives of the association.
To have the fee waived, you must email email@example.com with the subject line "Request for Student Member to Supporting Member Discount Code". Please note if you are not an active ATRA Student Member, this benefit will not apply to you.
Get your official transcripts ready to submit. Follow instructions in the Application Instruction Manual found in the Membership: Applications & Renewals Section of the website.
